Artist of the Month

Molly Burnette

The Fredericksburg Art Guild, located at 308 E. Austin Street in Fredericksburg, will

celebrate the art of Molly Burnette at a First Friday Art Walk reception on September

1, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m.  Ms. Burnette’s show will run from August 31 through October

1 in the Art Guild’s featured artist Gallery.

Burnette lives in Fredericksburg.  Her show’s title is “The Absolution Series.”  In her

own words, “The Absolution Series is about the forgiveness and freeing of the soul, my

soul, from personal hardship and the feeling that I got to gain control of my life.  I was

holding on so tightly to the outcome that…nothing was happening and I wasn't getting

anything done.  As soon as I let go and surrendered, everything began to flow and I

loved painting again.   This series is an expression of that freedom and surrender.”

Burnette Has a BFA in Studio Art from the University of Colorado Boulder.  She has

been an artist since she was a child, growing up in Georgetown, Texas.  Her mother

nurtured and supported her art, and has been a great influence all of her life.

She is an Abstract Expressionist using meditation and her spiritual practice to inspire

her paintings.  Her paintings, always colorful and full of movement, are definitely

unique.  Also influencing her are her daily walks with her two Corgis.

Burnette’s website can be viewed at  www.mollyburnette.com.  Also, you may check

her out on Instagram  @mollyaburnette, and on Facebook search for

MollyBurnetteArt.

The Art Guild is open Thursday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each

week and from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on First Friday each month.

COLOR CHOICES by Lee and Gayle Wilson

Please join Lee and Gayle Wilson at the Fredericksburg Art Guild, 308 E. Austin, to celebrate their

combined art at the First Friday Art Walk, November 4, 2022, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Gayle creates

arrangements of found objects on reclaimed wood while Lee’s medium is photography. The theme for

their show will focus on monochromatic pieces which both artists believe will assist the viewer to focus

on features such as line, shape, form and texture, rather than color. In contrast, they will also present

colorful and vibrant pieces - all designed to encourage viewers to consider how color and its absence

contribute to works of art. Their work will be on display through November 27. Lee and Gayle often

combine their talents on other art works, such as the whimsical painted birdbaths, birdhouses, and

peace poles they sell through their business, Bobcat Ranch Workshop in Fredericksburg.
