The Golden Hour
Artist: Joyce Roland Malatek
Medium: Oil
Gallery wrapped canvas
10x 20
Most of my art is created from my love of nature. My donkeys play a big roll in the subject matter I choose, since they are always ready to pose for the camera and seem to take on such human like antics. They make me laugh, which is represented by the bold colors I use. If featuring an animal, domestic or wild, I want the viewer to focus on the animal, so I rarely add detailed background. An animal's eyes are the key to their soul, so I pay a lot of attention to getting the eyes "right". Choosing a gallery wrapped canvas on which to present my art helps the viewer focus on the art and not the frame (which can always be added at a later time). Finally, I don't paint anything I don't love!
